From hopping trains to British Columbia ghost towns, to canoe-camping on the Yukon River, to hitchhiking in rural Syria: Reece Steinberg’s travels have taken him to off-grid places few people get to see.
Traveling without a cell phone, high-tech gear, or much cash, Reece relies on paper maps and the kindness of strangers. His search for abandoned spaces brings him together with everyone from the Syrian uncle who led him to a rural backyard castle, to a gold prospector who calls everyone a “dogfucker.”
Collecting work originally published between 2006 and 2016 as seven issues of the zine Q For Treason, this book is a reminder that adventure is always possible when you’re willing to step off the edge of the map.
