Laklakan explores the intricacies of kinship, diaspora, colonialism, and disability, and the connections between them. Ash writes about visiting the lands colonially known as the Philippines, as a mestizajx person with Filipinx and white ancestry, and the ways they feel both connection to and separation from their extended family there.
