Description

“I needed to gather the futile but delicious cabbage knowledge I acquired here in Germany…so here is the cabbage zine

I am part of a SOLAWI, which is an acronym for “Solidarische Landwirtschaft” which translates as “solidary agriculture” & is similar to the US-concept of CSA, Community Supported Agriculture, or AMAP (association de maintien de l’agriculture paysanne) in France. So basically, living in north east Germany, every week or the long fall / winter, I get a bunch of potatoes, carrots, beetroot and…all sorts of cabbages.

I grew up south of France, and let’s say that cabbage was always a bit despised & last on the list of “good things to cook”.

So I learned ! And had to acknowledge the beautiful, incredible diversity of this family. In this zine, I couldn’t represent all of them, (sorry, dear brocolis, beauty queen romanesco, and so many others !). But I got you covered for a SOLAWI winter in Berlin.

To increase the fun & the challenge, I wanted this zine the be shaped as a cabbage. I love the ways it flips, and I loved designing different pages in different shapes. From a sxquared form to a triangle, it also reminds me of this playful “cocotte” we used to fold as child.

This zine is printed in 2 colors riso at Colorama, by myself.
Special thanks to Chloé & Manon for the bok choi & cauliflower recipes!”
