I’m so excited to share Sheer Spite Press’ newest release with you!
Journey of a Speechless Man, Joseph Kapita Anyangya
What would the speechless man say, if you ask him? In Sheer Spite Press’ second original publication, Joseph Kapita Anyangya unrolls a story that begins when he leaves the Democratic Republic of the Congo at age 2. But looked at another way, the story begins centuries earlier, when the violent colonization of Central Africa set in motion the events that would lead to Kapita Anyangya having to leave his home.
Defying simplistic narratives about immigration and refugeeship, this thoughtful memoir explores topics including anti-Black racism in Canada, the exploitation of refugees’ hopes, and solidarity between refugees and First Nations people.

Stickers!!!
These beautiful holographic stickers were sent to me as a freebie from StickerCanada, who do a lot of my sticker printing! The art is by cherished friend of the press Veronika Dawydow, who also drew the cover art for Making Friends With Zines. ✨ Orders over $50 will get one of these special shiny stickers while supplies last. ✨
In other sticker news, I’ve added a new colourway of the very popular I Love Zines And Gay Sex sticker.
(I am well on my way to being a sticker company that sometimes makes books and stuff, and I’m OK with that)
Painting in the background is by my genius roommate Corie Waugh!
Last call for daydreams!
Monday, March 31 is the deadline for our upcoming compilation zine FIFTY FANTASIES: AN ANTHOLOGY OF DAYDREAMS.
The only problem is, we’ve only got 43 so far! Send me a one-paragraph narration of a scenario you enjoy imagining for inclusion in this dreamy zine!
Write something!
New in distro:
- Jeff Miller’s Ghost Pine is one of my favourite zines of all time, suffused with a deep love for the mundane spaces and interactions that make up a life, in a way that will make you want to romanticize and cherish the small details of your own life. This is a rare opportunity to grab some copies of GP that Jeff very kindly scrounged up for me, including a ~highly collectible~ 1999 (!!!) issue!
- From the wonderful UK-based Black Lodge Press, I have Teeth Become Weapons: A David Wojnarowicz–Inspired Zine, and Cruising. If you like their stuff, also check out AGITATE! AGITATE! AGITATE!, which has an interview with Black Lodge founder Cj Reay, and more of their work.
Upcoming events:
